Counterfeit branded clothing not only damages the original manufacturers' corporate image, but it also implicates a considerable financial disadvantage. 3S Simons Security Systems GmbH will be presenting its forgery-proof industry solution for counterfeit protection of fashion articles and textiles at EuroCIS 2012, February 28 - March 1, 2012. With SECUFASHION® both sports and lifestyle clothing as well as accessories and sports shoes are effectively protected against counterfeiting.
Industry leaders will be showcasing best practice solutions and the latest trends and developments covering the full spectrum of anti-counterfeiting technologies. With the SECUTAG® micro colour codes and the industry solution SECUFASHION® 3S Simons Security Systems GmbH will demonstrate state-of-the-art solutions in this field. Rolf Simons, Managing Director of 3S, will be at EuroCIS to inform congress attendees on how to use micro colour codes for legally binding counterfeit protection in the fashion sector.

According to current studies, counterfeits account for damages of many billions, and counting. In order to actively counteract this problem, munich expo has initiated the 1st counterfeit protection congress – sports, luxury, consumer goods and design. The congress is held on 30th January 2012 at Novotel München Messe, parallel to ispo Munich, the leading trade fair for the sports business.
Industry leaders present best practice solutions as well as new developments in the anti-counterfeiting market. With the SECUTAG® micro colour-codes and the corresponding industry solutions, 3S Simons Security Systems GmbH demonstrates current solution processes. Rolf Simons of 3S general management informs the participants on the subject of legally binding counterfeit protection with micro colour-codes.

German customs authorities have reported a new record result with more than five million pharmaceuticals seized in 2010. The number of medicines traded via the Internet is growing steadily. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every second pharmaceutical bought online is counterfeited. Not only anabolic drugs and potency pills can be purchased via online mail-order, prescription-only antibiotics and medicine for cancer treatment are also illegally offered.
Operation Pangea IV, coordinated by Interpol, the World Customs Organization (WCO) and national pharmacovigilance authorities, took action against the illegal online trade of pharmaceuticals from 20th to 27th September 2011 in over 80 countries. The results are alarming: All over the world, including Germany, illegal medicines can be purchased via the Internet. Many websites have a professional appearance, yet trade with illegal and counterfeit pharmaceutical products.
Most buyers are not able to distinguish original from counterfeit medicine. The operators of the Internet platforms hide behind anonymous letterbox companies. This shows how important it is to label genuine pharmaceuticals as originals. Following our motto „every product that affects people’s health or lives must be identifiable by anybody at any time as an original – without doubt“, 3S supports the secure identification of pharmaceuticals with the SECUTAG® micro colour-codes.

After thorough inspection, 3S Simons Security Systems GmbH has obtained the certification acc. to DIN EN ISO 9001. DIN EN ISO 9001 determines the requirements of a company’s quality management system. Main criteria for certification are customer orientation, adherence to highest quality standards, process-oriented workflow and efficient and on-schedule production.
Since 14th July 2011, the management system of 3S Simons Security Systems GmbH is now certified acc. to DIN EN ISO 9001 by QAS International. The certificate is valid for all our business segments: development, production and sales of print products and product labelling and identification products. We are pleased that the consequent compliance with our quality standards has officially been confirmed.

"3S has developed a new security label which protects products and packaging against counterfeiting and manipulation. A hologram made of VOID or PET foil, optimised by 3S with regards to its anti-counterfeiting characteristics, forms the basis of this solution. For the legally binding identification, a customer-owned SECUTAG® micro colour-code is included in the label.
Additional security features include tilting effects with changing image function, serial numbering, security stamping, variable customer data and special UV or infrared marking. Traceability features can also be implemented into the label. As a result, the new 3S label turns into a multi-layer security concept.

The annual German statistics of the Zentralstelle Gewerblicher Rechtsschutz (Central Department for Industrial Property Protection, ZGR) has been published. In 2010, German customs authorities have seized over 2.4 million counterfeit goods. This amounts to 23,713 cases, 146 percent more than 2009. Especially internet orders of fan articles, mainly for the World Cup 2010, immensely increased the seizures in postal traffic.
The breakdown of overall value is lead by the category watches, followed by clothing and sports shoes. Pharmaceuticals, toys, electronic goods and mechanical engineering parts also rank among the top seizures - all products that threaten health and lives of consumers. A good reason for 3S to further contribute to the fight against counterfeits!
